OKLAHOMA CITY – Brittney Stephens scored the only goal of the match 13 minutes into the second half as the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels slipped by the Texas College Steers 1-0 today (Sept. 23) at Evangel Field.

Stephens' score at the 58th minute came when she got free on a breakaway toward the net.

Even just finding the net once, the Lady Evangels dominated possession, out-shooting the Steers 26-4 overall and 15-3 on-goal.

But goalkeeper Nora Cordova kept the Steers in the match by making 14 saves in the net.

Stephens tallied match-highs in both shots (8) and shots-on-goal (6).

Madison Donihoo made three saves for the Lady Evangels (3-3) in recording her second shutout of the season.

The Lady Evangels, having now won three of their last four matches, will next face Bethel University (Tenn.) in a neutral-site contest Sunday afternoon (Sept. 25).  The match is set for 1 p.m. and will be played at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Ark.
