GREENVILLE, S.C. – The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced their 2017 Division I Women's Soccer National Championship Field on Saturday night, and the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels – who had secured the Central Region Title earlier in the afternoon – now know they will be in Pool A as they open their third trip to the National Championship in four years.
MACU (12-7) qualified as one of six region champions, and they were seeded sixth in the nine-team field. The field is split into three pools, with pool play taking place over the first three days of the Championship, followed by a day off and the semifinals and finals taking place on the final two days of the event. The Championship runs from November 27 through December 2.
MACU is in Pool A with the top-seeded Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcats (12-3-3) and the No. 9 Seed Columbia International University (S.C.) Rams (8-5-3).
The festivities will begin on Sunday, November 26, with a Christian Service Project as is customary at all NCCAA National Championships. As a part of the project, student-athletes will be caring for at-risk kids, prison inmates, and the homeless in the local community. Student-athletes are also asked to bring a toy, and each team is asked to donate 20 pairs of socks for kids and 10 pairs for adults.
MACU will open their Tournament run on Tuesday, November 28, in the first match at 1 p.m. eastern time. The Evangels will battle the Columbia International Rams, who will be coming off a match the previous day, and on Wednesday, the Evangels will take on the Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats in the same 1 p.m. time slot.
All games will be streamed live by the Tourbeau Sports Group on a pay-per-view basis. The tournament page can be found on the NCCAA's website at www.thenccaa.org under the Championships Menu and Division I Women's Soccer.
