KANSAS CITY, Mo. – With her record-setting performance in MACU's 10-1 win over Texas A&M-Texarkana on Saturday, senior midfielder Liz Lozano added one more weekly honor as she was tabbed as the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Since joining the NAIA in 2008, Lozano is the first MACU women's soccer player to be named the NAIA Offensive Player of the Week and only the second player overall since Madison Donihoo brought home the defensive honors on Oct. 20, 2016.
In the victory against the Eagles, Lozano tied MACU's single match goals record, joining Kaci Power and Sylvie Willie with five goals, but with the two additional assists, Lozano broke the MACU points record outright with 12.
A 5-5 midfielder from Aguascalientes, Mexico, Lozano ranks in the top four in the NAIA in multiple offensive categories and currently leads in goals per game (4.5), points per game (10.5), shots per game (8.5) and shots on-goal per game (6.5). Lozano ranks second in total goals (9), third in total points (21) and assists per game (1.5) and is fourth in game-winning goals (2).
Mid-America Christian will return home on Thursday, Oct. 8 as the Evangels will take on Arizona Christian for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Evangel Field.
