OKLAHOMA CITY – Under the leadership of first year head coach Anthony Yousey, the Mid-America Christian women's soccer program will look to pick up where it left off as the Evangels continue to build toward the future with eight college and high school standouts signing on for the upcoming 2021 season.
"I am very excited about the 2021 class coming in," said Yousey. "We have some very strong transfers arriving with Kadin Stinson, Daniela Paez and Rani Mueller. We are also bringing in a strong freshmen group which I think will provide us the depth we need as we carry into the postseason."
Mid-America Christian will be looking to build upon a squad that is coming off one of its most successful seasons in program history, finishing the regular season with a 15-3 record and placed second in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings with an 8-1 league mark.
Kadin Stinson headlines the class after a stellar two-year career at Barton County Community College out of Great Bend, Kan. The junior forward was named a KJCCC All-West First Team honoree after leading the Cougars to a 12-4-1 record and an appearance in the NJCAA Region VI Championship match.
Stinson was the squad's top goal scorer, netting the 10th-most of any player at the NJCAA Division I level with 13 for the year to go with an assist for a team-high 27 points. In a 5-0 victory over Southeast on Apr. 8, the Emporia, Kan. native recorded her first collegiate career hat trick. Overall, Stinson scored 18 goals in 33 matches during her two campaigns with the Cougars.
Stinson will also be joined by a very talented Barton teammate as midfielder Daniela Paez will compete for the Evangels in 2021. The KJCCC All-West Second Team selection last season dished out the fourth-most assists in the NJCAA with 11 to go with a pair of goals for 15 points. In that same matchup against Southeast, Paez recorded a career-high three dimes in the 5-0 win.
The Evangels added a strong defender who can produce on the offensive end with Rani Mueller. In the spring with Jacksonville College (Texas), Mueller scored three goals and notched three assists to finish second on the team in points with nine.
MACU will also look to get an impact from NCAA Division II Texas-Permian Basin transfer Gipsy Gonzalez, who appeared in 22 matches and made 15 starts for the Falcons.
An Oklahoma City Community College transfer, Alissa Taylor has also been added to the roster for the 2021 season. Previously, Taylor competed for Elgin High School, where she earned All-State honors as a defender following the 2020 season.
On top of its five collegiate transfers, Mid-America Christian also added three high school standouts in Dani Duke, Jasmine Morales and Mia Willyerd.
Dani Duke was a four-year letter-winner for a Yukon High School program that has produced winning seasons in three of the last four years and advanced to the second round of the Oklahoma State High School Playoffs this spring.
A Sante Fe South High School product, Jasmine Morales joins the program after earning All-State and All-District honors while leading the Saints to the 5A District Championship during the 2019 season.
Rounding out the signing class is Mia Willyerd. A forward that competed for a Mustang program that was a 2019 State Finalist, Willyerd's squad defeated Jenks 4-3 in the Class 6A Semifinals before falling to Norman North in the championship match.
Mid-America Christian will start the year with a 4 p.m. home scrimmage against Cowley College (Kan.) at Evangel Field on Aug. 16 before kicking off the regular season at home against MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) at 5 p.m. on Aug. 28.
