GAME NOTES
  • Mid-America Christian scored its six runs on six hits while Texas Wesleyan tallied three runs on seven hits and committed three errors.
  • The Evangels were able to jump out to an early lead by taking advantage of a Lady Rams miscue when Hallie Wilson reached on a single to right and then came around to score when the right fielder misplayed the ball to make it a 1-0 game.
  • Texas Wesleyan immediately got the run back in the bottom half of the second when Allisa Bradley dropped a two-out single to left-center to plate Kylie Summer, bringing it even at 1-1.
  • Once again, the Evangels were able to take advantage of some bad defense by Texas Wesleyan to plate a few runs. With two outs and runners at first and third, the Evangels executed a double steal, but in trying to pick off Cailey Parsells at third, TWU starting pitcher Brynna Foster made a throwing error to third, allowing the go-ahead run to come across. Later in Rachel Humburg's at-bat, the senior outfielder dropped a single into the right-center field gap to bring Olivia Roberts home, stretching the advantage to 3-1.
  • MACU added three more big insurance runs in the top of the fourth as back-to-back RBI singles to center by Parsells and Megan Widener led up to Parsells coming across on a wild pitch to make it a 6-1 game.
  • Foster provided the last scoring of the contest in the bottom of the fourth when she blasted a two-run homer over the center field fence to cut the Lady Rams deficit to 6-3.
  • Texas Wesleyan tried to muster one more late threat as EB Zimmerman and Bradley reached on consecutive singles to start off the bottom of the seventh. However, with TWU bringing the tying run to the plate on three consecutive at-bats, MACU starting pitcher Rachel Eggleston was able to retire three straight on a fielder's choice, a pop out and a groundout to end the game.
  • By getting the victory in the circle, Eggleston became the first Evangels pitcher in program history to record 20 wins in a season. Despite not having her best start by allowing three or more earned runs in a game for the first time since Mar. 10, the MACU ace was able to hold the Lady Rams to just seven hits and a walk to go with a pair of strikeouts.
  • Six different Evangels recorded the team's six base hits in the contest while Cailey Parsells, Megan Widener and Rachel Humburg tallied the squad's three RBIs.
  • Parsells and Hallie Wilson each scored a pair of runs to lead MACU on the basepaths while each also came up with a stolen base.
  • Despite Texas Wesleyan outhitting MACU 7-6, the Evangels were able to draw six walks to just one for the Lady Rams.
