OKLAHOMA CITY – Coming off two of the most successful seasons in program history while putting up record-setting hitting numbers, Austin Orth has been promoted to a full-time role as the hitting coach for the MACU Baseball program.
Over the last two seasons, the Evangels have put up unpresented success on the field, amassing an 82-30 (.732) overall record, a 40-11 (.784) mark in Sooner Athletic Conference play while capturing both SAC regular season and tournament titles in 2024.
On-top of qualifying for the NAIA Tournament over the last two years, the Evangels are coming off their deepest postseason run this past spring, making it all the way to the Opening Round Championship game before eventually falling to eventual undefeated National Champion, LSU Shreveport.
In each of the last two years, MACU has set multiple single season records. Last season, the Evangels set the annual program records for runs (523), hits (613), home runs (102), RBIs (478), total bases (1053), walks (308), stolen bases (152), batting average (.338), on-base percentage (.446), and slugging percentage (.580) to go along with the second-most doubles (110).
The Evangels were rated as one of the best hitting teams in the NAIA in 2025, posting the fourth-most homers, the 10th-best slugging percentage, 11th-most stolen bases, the 12th-most extra-base hits (224), 12th-most runs, 13th-best batting average, 13th-most hits, and 16th-best on-base percentage.
The 2025 offensive marks had eclipsed the records that were set in Orth's first year as a hitting coach as the Evangels notched 440 runs, 553 hits, 394 RBIs, 878 total bases, and .521 slugging percentage while the 115 doubles and 15 triples amassed that year still sit atop of the single season record book.
In the last two seasons, Orth's hitters have amassed 12 All-SAC honors, including Noel McGarry-Doyle (2), Carlos Medina (2), D'Andre Gaines (2), Cristopher Munoz, Brett Justice, Taiga Sakuma, Jacob Police, Zachary Stark, and Kyle Williams. The Evangels have also tallied four NCCAA All-America accolades with McGarry-Doyle being tabbed a two-time Third Team All-American while Williams (2024) earned First Team and Gaines (2025) gathered Third Team acclaim.
