NORMAN, Okla. – The MACU Track & Field teams put together a sensational outing at the J.D. Martin Invitational hosted by the University of Oklahoma at the Mosier Indoor Track Facility on Thursday afternoon.
Lucky Maila notched a school record in the Mile to go along with a qualifier in the 800-meter while
Jaden Rodriguez and
Chase Cotarelo tallied NCCAA qualifiers in the Mile and 800-meter as well.

MEN'S EVENT SUMMARY
- Mid-America Christian opened the day with an excellent showing in the Mile event. With MACU making up half of the Mile field, junior Lucky Maila became the Evangels' program record holder when he crossed the finish line in 4:25.04 to shatter Jaden Rodriguez's previous mark of 4:29.35 and set the third-fastest mark in the NCCAA with an automatic qualifying mark.
- Rodriguez also set a qualifying standard in the Mile event as well, crossing the line in 4:33.62 to set the third-fastest time in the MACU record book and notch his best time of the 2025-26 indoor season.
- Just an hour later, Maila would set his fourth NCCAA National Qualifying Standard of the year, this time competing in the 800-meter for the first time in his MACU career. Posting a time of 1:59.65, Maila recorded the third-fastest mark in the NCCAA and the second-best time in MACU's indoor book to boot.
- Freshman Chase Cotarelo became the fourth Evangel to record an NCCAA qualifying mark on the day in the very same 800-meter event, finishing right behind Maila with a time of 2:00.99 to set the fourth-best mark in the MACU record book with it also being his own personal best.
- In the 60-meter dash, Jagger Jay broke his own program record. After setting the record mark with a 7.36 in last week's Owen Hewitt, he crossed the line in 7.34 to better his standing. Sam Boyles also competed and matched his mark from last week with a time of 7.59.
- In the 200-meter, freshman Jaden Ingram set MACU's relatively new record when he crossed the line in 24.31. Matthew Kletke, who previously owned the record also set a personal-best mark in the meet with a time of 25.03 to set the second-fastest placement in MACU's record book.
- Freshman Jonathan Avila posted the best time for MACU in the 3000-meter, crossing the line in 9:26.57 for his first collegiate 3k result.
- The Evangels wrapped up the slate with the 4x400-meter relay with a pair of teams competing in the event. The four-man tandem of Cotarelo, Collin Seely, Blake Jensen, and Ingram posted an excellent second place time of 3:35.44 to break the program's relay record.

WOMEN'S EVENT SUMMARY
- Cora Eyler opened things up for the women in the 60-meter hurdles and after posting a 10.74 in last week's Owen Hewitt Invitational, the freshman sprinter perfectly matched her time in this week's event.
- A few hours later, Eyler once again competed in the 200-meter dash, posting a time of 29.19 for her second-fastest 200-meter time of the 2025-26 indoor campaign.
- To close out the event, the women competed in their first ever 4x400-meter relay. Eyler running in her third race of the meet started the tandem of Mallory Foster-Anderson, Jessie Foster-Anderson, and Kaylee Campbell. They teamed up to post a time of 4:53.83.

- Mid-America Christian will head up to Topeka, Kansas next weekend as the Evangels will compete in the prestigious Washburn Open at the Snead Indoor Athletic Facility from Jan. 30-31.
