WAXAHACHIE, Texas – The MACU Track & Field set some new milestones in its second year competing in the Sooner Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship Presented by Digital Scoreboards as the men's team earned All-SAC honors in a pair of events at the Lions Athletic Complex on the campus of Nelson University.
Chase Cotarelo became MACU's second individual All-SAC honoree with his third-place finish in the 800-meter while he joined
Blake Jensen,
Lucky Maila, and
Collin Seely on the podium with their second-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay.
Overall the Evangels finished in 11
th place as a team with 26 points while the women's team scored two points to finish in 12
th.

MEN'S EVENT NOTES
- Aidan Collins opened the SAC Championships on Thursday night by competing in the 10,000-meter run. He ended up tallying a pair of points for the Evangels with his seventh-place finish, setting the third-fastest 10k mark in MACU's record book with a 37:28.11.
- The 4x800-meter relay squad opened Friday on massive high note. The squad consisting of Chase Cotarelo, Blake Jensen, Collin Seely, and Lucky Maila combined to finish second with a time of 7:55.16. Not only did that time break MACU's previous record set by Jaden Rodriguez, Alexander Pebeahsy, Mohamed Zairi and Seely (7:58.07) at the NCCAA National Championships last year, but it also set the second-fastest time in the NCCAA this season.
- After running the 10k event on Thursday night, Collins competed in his second distance event of the meet in the 3000-meter steeplechase on Friday evening. The sophomore narrowly missed reaching the podium with his fourth-place time of 10:44.34, beating out Texas Wesleyan's Sean Torres by 2.5 seconds.
- Cameron Pearson paced the Evangels in the 1500-meter event, crossing the finish line in 16th place with a time of 4:13.22, setting a new personal best for the sophomore.
- In the 100-meter dash, Sam Boyles paced the Evangels with his new personal best. With a time of 11.55, the freshman sprinter set the fourth-best time in MACU's record book.
- Following his sensational run on Friday, Cotarelo put up another sensational result as an individual in the 800-meter. The freshman ended up on the podium after edging out John Brown's Matthew Cook (1:55.35), as he ran his new personal-best time of 1:55.10 to reset the second-best time in MACU's record book and netted the current sixth-best time in the NCCAA. With the result, Cotarelo also became the program's first two-time All-SAC honoree in two different events.
- After posting his personal-best in the 100-meter, Boyles also set MACU's best mark in the 200-meter dash. Crossing the finish line in 24.02, Boyles notched his personal-best time as well as tallied the second-best 200-meter time in MACU's record book.
- The Evangels wrapped up the SAC Championships with the 5000-meter event. Maila scored five more points for MACU with his fourth-place finish, crossing the line in 15:35.47. It was his second-fastest 5k time of the 2026 outdoor season and notched the fourth-fastest mark on MACU's all-time list. Kabelo Maja also added a top 10 finish in the event for MACU, placing with a 16:08.35 for his best time of the 2026 campaign.

WOMEN'S EVENT NOTES
- Cora Eyler broke her own school records in each of the hurdle events, as she posted a time of 17.15 in the 100-meter, setting an NCCAA National Championship qualifying standard with the 15th-best mark in the nation. In the 400-meter, she ended up scoring a few points with her seventh-place time of 1:12.19, making it the 14th-best time in the NCCAA.
- Kaia Henry competed in the 1500-meter, posting her second-fastest time of the 2026 season with a mark of 7:05.34.
