MEET SUMMARY
- Cora Eyler opened the meet on Thursday evening with the 100-meter hurdle preliminary event. She concluded the race by crossing the line in 17.98, making it the third-best time she's run in the event this season.
- One of two events the Evangels ran in during the Thursday slate, the MACU Men's 4x800-meter relay team was seeking to get back on the podium after winning the NCCAA Indoor National Championship in the event. By posting a time of 7:59.47, the squad consisting of Lucky Maila, Blake Jensen, Collin Seely, and Chase Cotarelo earned a third-place finish to get back on the podium and earn NCCAA All-America honors.
- With the results of the 4x800-meter, it made it the second time this year that Maila, Seely, and Cotarelo earned All-America honors while Jensen is collecting his first All-America acclaim. It is also the third event since competing in last year's NCCAA Nationals that MACU collected All-America acclaim after Mohamed Zairi garnered a third-place finish in the 800-meter last year and Jaden Rodriguez ran in third in the 5000-meter event a year ago.
- Maila was back in-action to open the final day of the NCCAA Nationals on Friday, this time competing in the 5000-meter. The junior South African scored four points for MACU with his fifth-place time of 15:37.23.
- Aidan Collins also brought in four points for MACU as a team with his fifth-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase, as his time of 10:18.55 marked his second-fastest pace in the event this year.
- Competing in the lone field event, the men's pole vault on Friday morning, Sam Boyles scored some points for the Evangels as his height of 4.00-meters earned him a sixth-place finish, netting MACU three points. While Jagger Jay also competed in the event, he was unfortunately unable to score a height in his first NCCAA National Championships.
- After running a little less than four hours previously, Maila once again gave it a strong effort in his first 1500-meter race of the 2026 outdoor season. With his time of 4:09.57, he was able to come away with an eighth-place finish and score a point for the Evangels, making him responsible for scoring 11 of MACU's 20 points in the three events he competed in.
- Cotarelo closed out the men's events for the Evangels at this year's NCCAA Nationals in the 800-meter, as he posted a 1:58.63 to score a seventh-place mark for two team points.
- Eyler wrapped up the NCCAA Championships for MACU as a whole with the women's 400-meter hurdles. Her time of 1:12.77 ended up being the third-best time she had run in the hurdle event this season.
- Overall, the men's team finished three places higher than last year when it placed 16th out of 26 teams while MACU placed 13th out of 22 in this year's outdoor championship event.
