July 22, 2008

7.22.08 - OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Mid-America Christian University Head Softball Coach Jerald Lewis, has announced the signing of Sarah Lankford is a junior designated hitter and utility player and Courtney Kuebler, a junior catcher. Both of these athletes will join the MACU softball program from Grayson County College in Denison, Texas in fall of 2008.

Lankford, 20, is a Mesquite, Texas native who is the daughter of Kevin and Leann Lankford. She is a graduate of Poteet High School. While playing for the Poteet Lady Pirates, Lankford was voted to the all-district team twice: as a designated hitter her sophomore season and as a third baseman in her junior season. As a senior, she was named offensive player of the year by her high school softball team.

While playing at Grayson County College for two years, Lankford was a first team all-conference selection as a freshman, second team all-conference selection as a sophomore and was a pre-season all-american pick in 2007.

Kuebler, 20, is a Richardson, Texas native who is the daughter of Rick and Cathy Kuebler. She is a graduate of Berkner High School. Kuebler was a catcher for the Berkner Rams. As a junior and senior in high school, she was voted district catcher of the year. Kuebler was also an all-city selection as a junior and senior.

While at Grayson County College, Kuebler was on the dean's list with a 4.0 GPA.

"I am really excited to have these two young ladies join our softball program," Lewis said. "They will add experience to our young team and supply depth and power to our lineup. Sarah has the ability to be a big-time hitter in this conference. Courtney can come in and make an impact not only behind the plate but also with her bat. These young ladies know how to play the game the right way. They love the game, and I am expecting great things from both of them."
