SNU's Kaci Crawford throws no-hitter to finish off sweep of Lady Evangels

Oklahoma City, Okla. -- Southern Nazarene starting pitcher Kaci Crawford hurled a no-hitter to lead the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm to a 3-0 win in the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 19) at the James Curtis Complex in OKC.  The Crimson Storm routed the Lady Evangels 10-0 in the opener.

Crawford struck out eight and only a pair of errors prevented a perfect game.

Kelcie Wolf was also solid for the Lady Evangels, pitching all seven innings and giving up only two earned runs.

Wolf blanked the Crimson Storm through the first two innings but ran into trouble in the third, as Kristina Forest singled to lead off the inning and scored thanks in large part to an error.

Katie Hale then singled home Daphne Steward, who reached on the miscue, for the second run of the inning.

Forest then hit a solo homer in the fourth for a 3-0 lead, which provided all the offense Crawford would need.

The Crimson Storm took control early of the opener with a four-run first inning and went up by six runs on a two-run double by Forest in the third.

SNU then took full advantage of three errors to score four runs in the fourth that put it away.

Jordan Simmons got the win in five innings of work and allowed only two hits.

The Lady Evangels have now wrapped up conference play but will host Hillsdale College in a non-conference matchup on Thursday afternoon (Apr. 21) at 2 p.m.
