Simeroth, starting pitching key Lady Evangels sweep of Hillsdale

Oklahoma City, Okla. -- Ashtin Simeroth hit two homers and drove in six runs and the Mid-America Christian Lady Evangel starting pitchers Kelcie Wolf and Jill Wilbanks combined to allow only one run on three hits in a doubleheader sweep of the Hillsdale College Lady Saints Thursday afternoon (Apr. 21) in OKC.  The Lady Evangels romped the Lady Saints by scores of 13-0 and 9-1.

Two bases-loaded walks led to three runs in the first and the Lady Evangels took advantage of four errors in the second to score six times for a commanding 9-0 lead.

Simeroth singled home Shanci Brown and Jessica Noblitt to get the inning started.

A two-run double by Harley Harp sparked a four-run third inning and put the game away.

Wolf allowed only two hits in the complete game shutout and struck out nine.

The Lady Evangels again jumped on the Lady Saints in the first inning of the nightcap with four runs as Simeroth hit the first of her two homers, a two-run blast that plated Tiffani Molet.

Molet doubled home Brown for the first run of the inning and a sacrifice fly by Tiffani Sanchez chased home Somer Grimes for the fourth tally.

Simeroth then led off the third with a solo homer that was followed shortly by a two-run single by Brown that made it 8-0 before Noblitt plated Christian Reyes with a sacrifice fly for the fifth run of the inning.

Wilbanks also struck out nine and allowed only one unearned run on one hit to notch the complete game victory.

The Lady Evangels will wrap up the regular season at home against Oklahoma Wesleyan next Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 26) at 2 p.m.
