Shawnee, Okla. -- The Oklahoma Baptist University Lady Bison held on for a 7-4 game one win and went on to complete the sweep over the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels 8-0 in the second game Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 10) in Shawnee, Okla.
The opener was back and forth as Allison Tunnell put the Lady Bison on top with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first, only to have the Lady Evangels tie the score with a pair of runs in the second.
Brittany Prandy scored the Lady Evangels' first run by stealing home on a double steal.
Tiffanie Sanchez then grounded out to plate
Jackie Hilterbran to tie the score.
It remained 2-2 until Tunnell led off the bottom of the fourth by hitting her second homer of the game to start a three-run inning.
OBU then tallied two more insurance runs in the sixth and starter Cassidi Henderson retired the Lady Evangels in order in the seventh to close out the win. Henderson pitched all seven innings and allowed two earned runs in the win.
The nightcap wasn't nearly as competitive as Noelle McDowell limited the Lady Evangels (8-29, 4-16 SAC) to only two hits in five shutout innings.
Ashley Clifton provided plenty of offensive support by going 2-of-3 with three RBI as OBU took command early with four runs in the first and three more in the second.
The Lady Evangels will next celebrate Senior Day by hosting a non-conference doubleheader against Hillsdale College on Thursday afternoon (Apr. 12) at 2 p.m. at Jack Allen Field.
