Softball's Ashlee Dodson and Ashtin Simeroth named NCCAA All-Central Region

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Mid-America Christian University softball players Ashlee Dodson and Ashtin Simeroth have been selected to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) All-Central Region squad, the organization announced last night (Apr. 30) at the opening night of the NCCAA Central Regional Tournament.

Dodson, a native of Midwest City, Okla., has put together an outstanding hitting season, leading the Lady Evangels in average (.364), runs (33), hits (55), doubles (18), triples (2), home runs (5), slugging percentage (.609), on-base percentage (.415) and stolen bases (10).  She has also stifled the opposing running game behind the plate, throwing out a whopping 65 percent (14-of-26) of potential base stealers.  Even though she is listed as a junior on the roster, Dodson is set to graduate early and will not return next season.

Simeroth, a senior from Purcell, Okla. has upped her batting average for the season to .299, riding a recent hot streak that included a combined 5-of-6 effort to help the Lady Evangels split a doubleheader with Rogers State last week.  She has driven in 18 runs on the season and is currently second on the team in on-base percentage (.340) and has slugged 10 doubles and scored 21 runs.

The duo helped the Lady Evangels advance to today's (May 1) winners bracket game against Central Baptist by going a combined 3-of-6 at the plate in a 3-0 victory over Southwestern Christian last night (Apr. 30).  Dodson went 2-of-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Simeroth was 1-of-3 at the dish.
