Lubbock, Texas -- The No. 2-ranked Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaps defeated the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels by scores of 8-0 and 11-2 Friday afternoon (Apr. 19) at Plains Capital Park in Lubbock, Texas.

The Lady Chaps wasted no time jumping on top in the opener as a two-run homer by Megan Sullivan fueled a five-run first inning.

That was more than enough for Katera Eltsosie, who pitched four scoreless innings and struck out six.

Latainna Eltsosie also had two RBI for LCU, while Autumn Lawrence collected both of the Lady Evangels' hits in the first game.

The Lady Chaps again got on the board first in the nightcap with a run in the first and two more in the second before breaking the game wide open with an eight-run third inning.  Latainna Eltsosie again hit a two-run homer in the big third, with Amanda Longorio also delivering a two-run single and Sullivan hitting an RBI double.

An RBI groundout by Erica Love and a run-scoring single from Carson Osborne in the fifth inning helped the Lady Evangels avoid the shutout.

The Lady Evangels will wrap up the series with another twinbill at LCU tomorrow (Apr. 20) at noon.
