OKLAHOMA CITY -- Mid-America Christian University softball head coach Robert Wakefield has made another early signing by adding Shelby Goucher for the 2016 season.

Goucher, a native of Blanchard, Okla., earned All-Conference honorable-mention honors last season competing for the Bridge Creek High School Bobcats.

She helped pitch the Bobcats to three consecutive district championships in both Fastpitch and Slowpitch.

A solid student-athlete, Goucher is a three-time member of the Bridge Creek President's Honor Roll.

"Shelby is a young lady that will be a big addition to the MACU softball program," Wakefield said.

"She is a pitcher with lots of talent that will get better and better.  We are so excited to sign Shelby because of her work ethic to improve every day."

Shelby is the daughter of John and Jeanne Goucher and plans to major in English Education at MACU.

Goucher is joining a program that enjoyed a breakout 2014 season by winning a single-season best 34 games along with the program's first appearance in the Sooner Athletic Conference title game.
