OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Mid America Christian University Lady Evangels fell short against Oklahoma Baptist University 6-3 today (Mar. 27) at Jack Allen Field.
The Lady Bison managed to take the lead in the first with two outs by scoring one run off of an error. Hannah Wilbur then managed to come through in the bottom of the first and kept the Lady Evangels off the bases.
It was the second inning that the Lady Bison took advantage of another error and made the score 4-0 heading into the bottom of the second and then tallied another unearned run in the third to take a 5-0 lead.
A fierce wind played a large part in the Lady Evangels committing three errors through the first three innings that led to all five of the Lady Bison's runs being unearned against starter Amber Tinney.
The Lady Evangels bats came alive in bottom of the third when Natalie Bissell started the inning off with a walk and Katie Gracey came through by singling to right field, which brought Taryn Callendar up to bat. Callendar moved the runners over on a sacrifice bunt and Taylor Green grabbed two RBI by scoring Bissell and Gracey off of a triple to right field.
Hannah Lynch made sure not to leave Green stranded as she singled up the middle to make the score 5-3 leading into the fourth.
OBU got another run in the top of the fifth by a solo homerun by LeNae Sanchez.
Tinney gave up seven hits with one earned run in her five innings of work. Kelcie Wolf came in to finish the game by allowing two hits and no runs in her two innings on the mound.
The Lady Evangels will take on Southwest Assemblies of God University beginning at 2 PM tomorrow (Mar. 28) at Jack Allen Field.
