Greenville, SC -- Just one day after being named Sooner Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, Mid-America Christian University junior Kelcie Wolf has now added the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Pitcher of the Week award to her collection, the organization announced last night (Apr. 1).
This time, Wolf was joined by teammate Ashley Sanford, who was named the NCCAA Field Player of the Week.
Wolf won three games this past week and allowed no earned runs in 18 2/13 innings pitched. Wolf struck out 21 batters against only three walks. Wolf has won eight games overall this season and leads the staff with a 2.82 earned-run average and has a team-high 60 strikeouts on the season.
Sanford, a junior first baseman, batted .500 for the week with three homers and 12 RBI.
She drove in six runs in a win over Bacone College, which ties a school single-game record since joining the NAIA. She also produced three doubles.
Sanford's .438 batting average leads the Lady Evangels and also ranks fourth in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The duo has been instrumental this season in helping the Lady Evangels surpass their most wins (21) in a season since joining the NAIA.
The Lady Evangels are 21-11 overall this season and will next be at Central Christian College tomorrow afternoon (Apr. 3) for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. in McPherson, Kan.
