Lady Evangels Fall 10-2 at Oklahoma Christian in NCCAA Central Regional

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The No. 2-seeded and tournament host Oklahoma Christian University Lady Eagles scored 10 unanswered runs and went on to defeat the third-seeded Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels 10-2 in action at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Central Regional in OKC.

The loss puts the Lady Evangels in an elimination game tomorrow (May 9) at noon against Ecclesia College.

MACU got off to a good start as Jackie Hilterbran and Tiffany Holt each drove in a run to make it 2-0 in the first inning.

But the Lady Eagles had a firm response and plated four in the bottom of the inning to go up by two runs.

After MACU starter Amber Tinney blanked the Lady Eagles over the next two frames to keep it a two-run game, OC again struck for four in the bottom of the fourth and then scored two more off of reliever Ashley Sanford in the fifth to put it away.

Kendra Pierce sparked the OC hitting attack, going 3-of-4 with four runs driven in.  The Lady Eagles also got two RBI apiece from Martha Thomas and Danielle Collins.

If the Lady Evangels (33-29) are able to get past Ecclesia tomorrow, they would face the winner of Central Baptist College vs. Hillsdale/Crowley's Ridge tomorrow evening at 6 p.m.  MACU knocked off Crowley's Ridge 9-0 in the tourney opener earlier today.
