OKLAHOMA CITY -- With the 2015 campaign still nearly six months away, Mid-America Christian University softball head coach Robert Wakefield has already got a jump on the 2016 class by signing Karly Murray this week.
Murray is a solid student-athlete that was nominated to the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) Best Players in Fastpitch while competing for the Hinton (Okla.) HS Comets.
She has helped the Comets have unprecedented success by contributing to a Class 2A Fastpitch Regional Championship, Class 2A Fastpitch state quarterfinal appearance along with a Class 3A Slowpitch state championship for the first time in school history.
Murray's success at Hinton HS hasn't been limited to the playing field, as she ranks in the top 10 of her class and was named to the OSU Caddo County Chapter of outstanding high school students.
"Karly is a young lady that is going to help us in the circle for the next four years," Wakefield said.
"She is a young lady that will also help us at other positions and has the potential to be a good hitter with power. We are excited to get this young lady and be a part of MACU softball for the next four years."
She is the daughter of Tracy and RG Murray and plans to major in Education at MACU.
