MACU Softball Lands Caitlin Butler for 2017 Season

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Mid-America Christian University softball head coach Robert Wakefield has received another early signing for the 2017 season in pitcher/shortstop Caitlin Butler.

Butler, a Decatur, Texas native, competed for the Decatur High School Eagles and was the District 8-4A MVP as a junior after earning District 8-2A all-district honors at the shortstop position during her sophomore season.

She has also been a solid student-athlete in being a member of the all-academic team for four years.

"Caitlin is a young lady with a great personality that will carry on and off the field," Wakefield said.

"She will help us in the circle as well as playing on the infield.  She is a strong leader on the field as well as in the classroom and is also our first ministry degree program participant.  We are excited to have Caitlin in our MACU softball family and looking forward to having her the next four years."

Butler is joining a program that is coming off consecutive winning seasons for the first time since joining the NAIA in 2008.

The daughter of John Butler and Tabitha Davis, Butler plans to major in Theology at MACU.
