Chickasha, Okla. -- The Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels defeated the No. 19-ranked William Woods University Owls 8-4 tonight (Feb. 20) in their second game of the USAO/MACU Tournament in Chickasha, Okla.  The Lady Evangels dropped their opener 15-0 to the MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers.

The Lady Evangels carried a 4-1 lead before a two-out, pinch-hit three-run double by Caroline Sicht tied the score in the bottom of the inning.

MACU quickly regained the lead with a run in the fifth when Hannah Lynch scored on a passed ball.

An RBI single by Kenna McCoy in the sixth added to the lead and Mykah Smith hit an RBI triple as part of a two-run seventh inning that stretched the edge to four runs.

The opener didn't go the Lady Evangels' way, as the Pioneers jumped on top quickly when a two-run triple by Madison McKay keyed a five-run first inning and the Pioneers scored four more in the second to bust it open.

The Pioneers then put it away with a six-run fourth inning.

MNU got three RBI each from McKay and Hayley Gately and two RBI from Kaity Wills and Kimberly Montoya.

Taylor Pearcy shut out the Lady Evangels in her five innings of work with six strikeouts to pick up the win.
