OKLAHOMA CITY -- Mid-America Christian University softball head coach Robert Wakefield has announced the signing of Geary, Okla. native Monica Martinez for the 2016 season.

Martinez prepped for the Geary High School Bison, where she earned Little All-City honorable-mention honors.

"Monica is a young lady that we are excited to have in our program," Wakefield said.

"She will help with our team speed  and will also help our infield depth by being able to play multiple positions on the field."

She is the daughter of Jose Martinez and Jessica and Craig Brushwood and anticipates majoring in English at MACU.

Martinez is joining a program that is coming off consecutive winning seasons for the first time since joining the NAIA in 2008.
