Lady Evangels Eliminated from NCCAA Regional Tourney With 5-4 Setback to Central Baptist

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Central Baptist College Lady Mustangs edged the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels 5-4 today (May 8) in action at the National Christian College Athletic Associaton (NCCAA) Central Regional Tournament at Tom Heath Field on the campus of Oklahoma Christian University.

The Lady Evangels will now await their fate of an at-large bid to the NCCAA National Tournament next week.

CBC took an early lead on a two-run single by Joella Bayles that capped a three-run first inning.

The Lady Evangels fought back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first on a bases-loaded walk to Hannah Lynch and an RBI single by Carson Osborne.

After the Lady Mustangs plated a run in the second and third innings to go up 5-2, Jackie Hilterbran doubled home Cassidy Hart in the fourth and then singled in Hart in the sixth to make it a one-run game.

But that's all the Lady Evangels could muster as CBC starter Sara Squiers settled in and retired MACU in order in the seventh to finish off the win.

Hilterbran paced the Lady Evangels' offensive attack by going 3-of-4 with two RBI.  Osborne had two hits while Hart scored two runs.

Macie Crites relieved Kelcie Wolf and blanked the Lady Mustangs on only one hit over the final 4 2/3 innings.

Squiers was the winner for the Lady Mustangs, allowing four runs in her seven innings on the mound.
