Lady Evangels Rout Tabor College 11-0 to Split a Pair of Games at USAO/MACU Tournament

Chickasha, Okla. -- Cassidy Hart had three hits and drove in four runs to support a five-inning shutout by Macie Crites and lead an 11-0 victory for the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels over the Tabor College Bluejays today (Feb. 19) in action at the USAO/MACU Tournament at Bill George Park in Chickasha, Okla.

Tiphani Napier put the Lady Evangels on top with an RBI single in the first and Hart doubled home two runs in the second for a 3-0 lead.

After Mykah Smith walked and stole home in the third, the Lady Evangels came out and plated seven runs in the fifth to put away the Bluejays.

The big inning for the Lady Evangels featured a two-run single from Taylor Green, a two-run triple by Carson Osborne, another two-run double from Hart and a run-scoring single by Katie Gracey.

That proved to be more than enough for Crites, who allowed only four hits and walked none in her five innings in the circle.

Earlier in the day, the Lady Evangels fell 7-5 to the Hastings College Broncos in 11 innings.

The Lady Evangels trailed 2-1 heading to the bottom of the seventh before an RBI groundout from Taryn Callender tied the score and sent the game into extra innings.

The Broncos picked up a run in the eighth, ninth and 10th inning, but each time the Lady Evangels answered with a run of their own to stay alive.

Finally, the Broncos put up two runs in the 11th and starter Katlynn Behnk held the Lady Evangels off the board in the bottom of the frame.

Behnk went the full 11 innings for the Broncos and struck out 11 with only two earned runs allowed to pick up the win.

Hart and Marki Dethloff each had two hits for the Lady Evangels, while Dethloff and Callender each drove in two runs.

Morgan Wardlow started for the Lady Evangels and lasted eight innings, with six strikeouts, two earned runs and four walks.

Tomorrow (Feb. 20), the Lady Evangels will again face Tabor College at 10 a.m. and then Friends University at noon at Chickasha City Park in Chickasha, Okla.
