OKLAHOMA CITY – Cassidy Hart provided the offense and the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels got two outstanding pitching performances from Macie Crites and Morgan Wardlow in sweeping the Crowley's Ridge Lady Pioneers by scores of 7-0 and 10-0 today (Mar. 26) at Jack Allen Field.
Hart hit for the cycle over the two victories, going five-of-six with a homer, two triples, a double and a single along with five RBIs. Her two triples came in the first game, making her the first Lady Evangel to hit two triples in a game since joining the NAIA in 2008.
Crites shut out the Lady Pioneers in her five innings in the opener, retiring 12 straight at one point and striking out a career-high nine batters. Caitlin Swain pitched the final two innings, striking out four and allowing only one hit.
The Lady Evangels also got RBIs from Mykah Smith, Katie Gracey and Carson Osborne in the opening game victory.
Wardlow followed that with a sterling outing of her own in the nightcap, holding the Lady Pioneers hitless until the fourth inning. That would be the only hit she allowed along with four strikeouts in her four innings of work.
Taylor Fowble then finished the win with a scoreless fifth inning and one strikeout. The second game ended after five innings due to the run rule.
Osborne and Marki Dethloff each drove in two runs in the second game.
The Lady Evangels, now having won 14 of their past 17 games, will next play at USAO in a Sooner Athletic Conference matchup Tuesday afternoon (Mar. 29) at 4 p.m. in Chickasha, Okla.
