OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian University Softball Lady Evangels have signed sophomore shortstop Jessica Johnson for the 2017 season, head coach Robert Wakefield has announced.

Before transferring to MACU, Johnson competed one year at Rose State College in nearby Midwest City, Okla.

A native of Enid, Okla., Johnson prepped at Pioneer High School. She was a four-time All-Conference and Tri-County performer while earning All-State honors in 2014. Johnson was also selected to play in the All-Star game from 2012-14.

Johnson helped the Pioneer HS Mustangs to four consecutive District berths along with a Regional and State Semifinal appearance in the 2014 season.

"Jessica is a great athlete that will give us some experience on the infield," Wakefield said.

"She has a year of college softball under her belt which will help us at shortstop.  We are glad to get Jessica at MACU and continue our success on the field and in the classroom."

She is the daughter of John and Lydia Johnson and plans to major in Business at MACU.

Johnson is set to join a program coming off its first-ever National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) appearance in school history.
