Martin, O'Bryant Sweep SAC Softball Weekly Awards

OKLAHOMA CITY - While the Mid-America Christian University softball team was on the field on Monday afternoon, the Sooner Ahtletic Conference office selected two members of the team as the recipients of their weekly awards.

Regan Martin took the conference's Pitcher of the Week Award, and Amber O'Bryant was named the SAC Player of the Week. The honors are the first career awards for both players.

Martin, a 5-4 sophomore right hander from Sheridan, Arkansas, factored in four MACU wins as a part of a 6-0 week. She notched back-to-back shutouts against Langston University and Ecclesia College on Thursday and Friday, and she had a save in the second game against Langston. She also earned a win on the road on Tuesday at Bacone College. She allowed only one run on the week, and she held opposing hitters to a batting average of .083 in her four appearances. She held opponents scoreless in her final 12 2/3 innings for the week, and she recorded only five outs on balls in the air - only two of which reached the outfield.

O'Bryant, a 5-5 junior from Moore, Oklahoma, hit .684 on the week and helped set the table for a MACU offense that scored 46 runs in six games. She drove in five runs and scored seven batting in the number two spot in MACU's lineup, with two of her RBIs coming on squeeze bunts. She also was a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen bases during the week, part of a 27 stolen base week for the Evangels.
