Six Softballers Honored by SAC

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Mid-America Christian University softball team posted another 30-win season in 2019, their fourth such season in their last six campaigns, and they posted a third place finish in the Sooner Athletic Conference. When the SAC announced their all-conference softball teams this week, MACU had six players honored on the lists.

MACU had five players - Alanna Leisy, Hannah Salmon, Jessica Holt, Regan Martin, and Hanna Harris all earned second team All-SAC honors, and Amber O'Bryant was named a recipient of a SAC Gold Glove.

Leisy, a 5-7 sophomore from Oklahoma City, spent much of the year splitting time between catcher and third base for the Evangels. She hit .340 on the season, and she led the team with 39 runs scored and 21 walks. She tied for the team lead with three home runs, and she added 14 doubles and 29 RBIs.

Salmon, a 5-6 junior from Oklahoma City, led the Evangels in batting average with a .346 mark. She had 53 hits on the season, 31 RBIs, 34 runs scored, and 17 walks. She was also 13-for-14 in stolen bases.

Holt, a 5-7 junior from Oklahoma City, anchored the MACU outfield defense, and at the beginning of the month of April, she moved to the leadoff spot in the MACU order where she thrived. She finished the season hitting .319 with 31 runs scored and 16 RBIs, and she was a perfect 15-for-15 in stolen bases. She also had nine assists from center field.

Martin, a 5-6 sophomore from Sheridan, Arkansas, improved on her freshman season in the circle in every major category. She had more victories (16), fewer losses (8), more complete games (16), more shutouts (7), a better ERA (2.07), and more saves (3) than she had as a freshman. She anchored a MACU rotation that posted a sub-3.00 ERA, and she led the Evangels with 145.2 innings pitched.

Harris, a 5-5 senior from Bridge Creek, Oklahoma, handled the bulk of the catching duties for MACU, and she was a doubles machine for the Evangels. Harris belted 19 doubles on the season - two shy of the program's single season record and good enough for 17th most in the NAIA. She hit .336 and drove in 28 as well.

O'Bryant, a 5-5 junior from Moore, Oklahoma, earned MACU's spot on the Gold Glove list. She anchored the infield defense at second base, as she posted a .966 fielding percentage and she was a part of 11 double plays.
