GREENVILLE, S.C. – Senior outfielder Faith Hollingsworth from the Mid-America Christian softball team was announced as the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Game Plan 4 LIFE Character Award recipient while 12 student-athletes from the team were named Scholar-Athletes on Monday.
The NCCAA awards the GP4L to the student-athlete that epitomizes the Christian qualities of love, integrity, faith and excellence.
Hollingsworth, a 5-7 outfielder from Burkburnett, Texas is receiving the honor for her stellar career as a student-athlete for the MACU softball team during the last two seasons.
A two-time All-Sooner Athletic Conference Second Team honoree, Hollingsworth heads into the 2021 NCCAA World Series with a .315 career batting average, ripping six doubles, three triples and six home runs for 34 runs-batted-in and 29 runs scored over 63 games.
During the 2021 campaign, the team captain leads the squad with five homers, tying the sixth-most hit by any player in the SAC this season. Her last homer was one of the biggest in her collegiate career, as she blasted a two-out, two-run homer over the right field fence to propel the Evangels to a 6-4 eight-inning victory at Central Christian (Kan.) on Apr. 18.
Off the field, Hollingsworth was a member of the English Club, served as an English tutor for Mid-America Christian University and was also a contributor to the MACU Anglius Chronicles. Hollingsworth also serves as a Bible study leader for grade school children at Central Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.
Hollingsworth graduated earlier this month with a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary English Education and is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society while also being named a two-time NAIA and NCCAA Scholar-Athlete.
Hollingsworth is the second Evangels softball player to earn the award in the last three years. Senior pitcher and outfielder Larie Amos received the honor following the 2019 campaign.
The Mid-America Christian softball team continued to perform at a high level of excellence both on the field and in the classroom during the 2020-21 academic year with its 12 Scholar-Athlete recipients. The Evangels had the most Scholar-Athletes of all NCCAA institutions.
