GREENVILLE, S.C. – The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced its 2021-22 Winter/Spring Scholar Teams as the Mid-America Christian softball program was selected to the esteemed list on Tuesday.
To earn Scholar Team honors, a team needs to have a combined grade-point-average of 3.40 or better as well as be a full-time member of the NCCAA.
The Evangels were one of six softball programs to receive Scholar Team accolades while boasting the highest GPA of the NCCAA softball programs at 3.64.
It is the third straight year that the Evangels have earned an NCCAA Scholar Team award as MACU has held the highest GPA of the receiving softball programs in each of those three seasons.
Mid-America Christian is not only coming off another highly successful season academically, but have also performed at an exceptional level on the field, finishing the season with a 35-23 record while finishing as a semifinalist at the NCCAA Softball World Series.
The Evangels also had a strong last half of the season, winning 17 of their final 22 games. MACU ended the year as the fourth-ranked team in the NCCAA Softball Rankings.
In May, the NCCAA announced its spring scholar-athletes list as the Evangels once again led the way with 13 student-athletes earning the academic award.
