Softball Prepared to Face Panhandle State in Four-Game Series

OKLAHOMA CITY – The MACU softball team will be seeking its first Sooner Athletic Conference wins of the season this weekend as the Evangels will host Oklahoma Panhandle State in a four-game series at Allen Field. MACU will open with a doubleheader at 2 p.m. on Friday before closing out the slate with a noon doubleheader on Saturday.

    • However, the Evangels were facing a highly motivated OCU team that saw its head coach Phil McSpadden become the all-time winningest collegiate softball coach.
    • Macy Stockton produced the lone RBI for the Evangels in the two-game slate by slapping a single through the hole between third and short in the bottom of the seventh, bringing the tying run to the plate.
    • Avery Schneringer went the distance, allowing just two earned runs over seven innings of work to record her team-leading fourth complete-game of the season and the 18th of her career, putting her just one back of Katie Wolf for the eighth-most in program history.

    • The Panhandle bats are led by junior third baseman Bryerly Avina, who is on-top of batting a .359 average, posting the fourth-highest slugging percentage in the SAC at .813 behind four doubles, five triples and five home runs. Her 28 RBIs ranks second in the league while her 20 runs tie her for fifth. • Mid-America Christian will be looking to turn the tides on OPSU in the series after the Aggies swept the Evangels in a four-game series in Goodwell last season. MACU struggled to slow down the red-hot OPSU bats, which pushed across 37 runs in the four-game slate.
