  • The Evangels opened the day with a six-run outburst in the top of the first as Mikaylee Allen laid down an impressive bunt double through the right side to plate Cailey Parsells to start the run. Janessa Larman followed with a two-run jack to left-center before Abby Womack hit a bases-clearing double down the left field line to cap off the scoring outburst.

  • Brooklyn Wilson narrowly missed hitting for the cycle as she slashed 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and also hit her first career home run for two RBIs and three runs scored. The four hits marked a new career-high for the sophomore outfielder.
  • Janessa Larman and Rachel Humburg each recorded three hits in the contest as Larman batted 3-for-4 to go with hitting her second homer of the season for two RBIs and a run scored while Humburg also slashed 3-for-4 with an RBI and a pair of runs.

GAME TWO

PITCHING DECISION TOP PERFORMERS SCORING SUMMARY GAME NOTES
  • The Evangels scored their 11 runs on 11 hits while the Lady Lions scored their two runs on four hits and committed one error.
  • Mid-America Christian once again started off strong, pushing across four runs in the top of the first with Mikaylee Allen, Brooklyn Wilson and Olivia Roberts coming up with RBI hits.
  • After the first batter was retired for Langston, the Lady Lions got the bats going in the bottom of the first, tallying three hits in four at-bats to push across a pair of runs. However, Wilson abruptly ended the LU hit parade when she gunned down Peyton Lea at third during Madison Slater's RBI single to right to keep it to a 4-2 game.
  • Langston pitcher Tandy Garrett got on a role, retiring eight straight Evangels hitters between the first and the third inning before Olivia Roberts opened the fourth with a line drive home run over the left-center field fence to start a three-run inning.
  • Janessa Larman cranked her second home run of the day with a solo shot to center field to open the fifth inning before the Evangels put together a three-run sixth to bring the eight-run rule into effect.
  • After a rough first inning, Avery Schneringer settled down the rest of the way, allowing just one hit and one walk over the next five innings to get the complete-game win.
  • Olivia Roberts continued her ascent up the MACU career record books in multiple categories. With a pair of RBIs, Roberts moved alongside Hannah Salmon as the program's all-time runs-batted-in leader with 96. Also, by hitting her 34th double, she moved alone into third all-time, moving just three back of Tiffany Holt (2013-16) and five away from record-holder Jackie Hilterbran (2012-15).
  • With Larman's second home run, the senior third baseman moved into the program's top five record book for career dingers, moving into a tie for fourth with Erica Love (2012-13) and Hannah Lynch (2014-15) with 11.
  • With the win, the Evangels stretched its win streak to six games over Langston and have won the last six contests played at TG Green Park.
UP NEXT
