Softball Heads to Central Christian for Four-Game Series

OKLAHOMA CITY – The MACU softball team will be making the trip to McPherson, Kansas on Friday as the Evangels will face off against Central Christian in a four-game series this weekend. MACU will open the slate on Friday with a doubleheader starting at 3:30 p.m. before closing out with a doubleheader at noon on Saturday.

    • Mid-America Christian wrapped up its non-conference slate with a dominant doubleheader sweep over Ecclesia on Wednesday at Allen Field after picking up a pair of 8-0, 14-2 victories.
    • In the opening game against the Royals, Rachel Eggleston tied a career-high 10 strikeouts in just five innings of work while tossing her second straight complete-game shutout. By tossing her fifth goose egg of her career, Eggleston moved into a five-way tie for the fifth-most by a pitcher in program history.
    • In the 14-2 win in game two, the Evangels got a remarkable performance from sophomore outfielder Karlee Danielson off the bench. After entering midway through the game, Danielson ended up batting 2-for-2 and hit her first career home run on the varsity roster after smashing a three-run shot to left in the bottom of the fourth. Overall, Danielson finished with four RBIs and a pair of runs scored.
    • Putting up a big doubleheader offensively, Cailey Parsells scored four times and stole five bases after batting 2-for-3 while also reaching on a walk and two hit-by-pitches. By nabbing her 30th stolen bag of the season, Parsells became the fifth Evangel in program history to steal 30 or more bags in a season as she also holds three of the top five marks in the book.

    • After getting swept at home against Oklahoma Panhandle State on Apr. 1, Central Christian has gone on a six-game win streak, which included sweeping Langston in a four-game series last weekend.
    • The Tigers come into the weekend with the seventh-highest batting average (.270) in the Sooner Athletic Conference while also posting the league's seventh-best on-base percentage (.333) and slugging percentage (.360). The Tigers also sit in sixth in the SAC in team earned run average (4.28) and are posting the seventh-best defense in the conference with a .921 fielding percentage.
    • Offensively, freshman infielder Camryn Frick has made a huge impact as she leads the team with a .372 batting average while scoring 20 runs and stealing a team-best 23 bags. Junior catcher Destiny Holt has been the team's best run producer, driving in 26 RBIs and scoring 22 runs behind a .316 batting average.
    • In her first season with the Tigers, junior pitcher Sara Lynch has put together a strong season in the circle, turning in a 10-9 record on a 3.39 ERA to go with a team-high 67 strikeouts.
    • Currently, Mid-America Christian is on an 11-game win streak against Central Christian and have won 36 of the last 37 games since 2007. The Evangels were able to take care of business in their split series last season. After picking up a pair of 12-2, 8-4 wins at Allen Field on Apr. 12, the Evangels dominated the Tigers in McPherson, Kan. on Apr. 15, tallying a pair of 10-1 victories.
