  • Team Notes:
    • Southwestern Assemblies of God is coming off a four-game home sweep over Langston this past weekend, taking the opening doubleheaders 9-5 and 5-2 before coming away with 4-0 and 18-8 victories on Saturday.
    • The Lady Lions are one of the better hitting teams in the Sooner Athletic Conference, posting the league's third-best batting average (.322) and are tied for third with MACU in on-base percentage at .386. However, SAGU ranks just fifth in slugging percentage at .413.
    • Pitching has been a major weakness for SAGU during the 2023 season as the Lady Lions rank second-to-last in the SAC in team ERA at 6.35 while averaging just 3.48 strikeouts per seven innings. Defensively, Southwestern Assemblies of God ranks in the middle of the pack in fifth with a .941 fielding percentage.
    • SAGU's Sasha Jennings enters the series as the league's most efficient hitter, slashing .454 while ranking 12th in runs scored at 33 and 13th in stolen bases with 15. Overall, six of SAGU's every day players are hitting .300 or better. In the circle, freshman Trista Ford has been the Lady Lions' most efficient pitcher, boasting a 7-7 record in 24 appearances on a 4.83 ERA.
    • Even though Mid-America Christian holds a 30-10 lead in the all-time series since the two programs started facing each other in 2013, the Evangels will be looking to get some revenge on the Lady Lions after SAGU spoiled MACU's NCCAA World Series run last season. In that semifinal matchup on May 18, 2022, the Lady Lions jumped out to an early four-run lead on a first inning grand slam by Ashlyn Teran before holding off a late Evangels rally to pull out the 5-2 win and advance to the championship game. Despite the result, the Evangels have fared well against SAGU in the last two years, winning six of the last nine games between the two squads.
