  • Team Notes:
    • After getting off to a rocky start in its final home series against Southwestern Assemblies of God, splitting the Friday doubleheader with a 2-0 win and a 5-3 loss, the MACU softball team bounced back in a big way last Saturday on Senior Day with a dominant 8-0, 9-1 sweep to take the series.
    • For the fourth time this season, the team's ace Rachel Eggleston garnered the NCCAA Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week. In three games, the Kiowa, Oklahoma native went 2-1 and allowed just a 0.70 ERA while allowing just four runs, two earned on 17 hits, four walks 17 strikeouts over 20 innings of work.
    • In the win on Saturday, Eggleston made history by tying the single-season program records for wins, matching Katie Long's 2021 mark of 19 while also equalizing Regan Martin's 2019 shutouts record with her seventh of the season.
    • Two more MACU records fell on Saturday as well as Cailey Parsells became the program's all-time runs record holder with 136 while Olivia Roberts moved into the all-time doubles lead with 40 two-baggers. Previously, both records were held by Jackie Hilterbran (2012-15), who scored 134 career runs and 39 career doubles.
    • By getting the sweep, the Evangels also moved into third in the SAC standings with a 16-10 league mark, moving a game-ahead of Southwestern Christian and Oklahoma Panhandle State who are tied for fourth at 16-12.

  • Team Notes:
    • Texas Wesleyan had a rough showing in its four-game series at Langston last weekend as the Lady Rams split a four-game series with the Lady Lions. TWU won both games of the Friday doubleheader 2-1 and 12-4, but dropped both games last Saturday 5-4 and 8-6.
    • Offensively, the Lady Rams have struggled to generate much from the plate, batting a SAC low .248 batting average while also posting league lows in on-base percentage (.303) and slugging percentage (.318). In the circle, TWU ranks seventh in the SAC in team ERA at 4.64, but are one of the SAC's best defensive teams, posting the second-best fielding percentage at .960.
    • From the plate, Izzy Valenzuela is the only player on the team hitting for an above .300 batting average, slashing .333 while also leading the team in homers (6), RBIs (26) and runs scored (16). Brynna Foster is the only other player on the team to record 20 or more RBIs while notching a .283 batting average to go with a team-best eight doubles and three homers.
    • Due to injuries to the Lady Rams pitching staff, Foster has been the work horse for TWU in 2023, posting an 8-11 record in 25 appearances, allowing just a 3.57 ERA over 125.1 innings of work. Krysta White has been serving as the team's No. 2, but has not picked up a win with an 0-9 mark and a 7.90 ERA over 67.2 innings. However, Dylann Kaderka has recently returned to the Texas Wesleyan rotation and is posting a 2.57 ERA in three appearances and one start over 16.1 innings.
    • Despite Texas Wesleyan leading the all-time series 17-15, Mid-America Christian has fared well against the Lady Rams recently. Since the 2019 season, the Evangels have a 9-4 lead in the series. Despite losing the series opener to TWU 13-3 last season on Mar. 26, 2022, MACU dominated the series the rest of the way as MACU took the season series 3-1 with 3-0, 8-0 and 5-1 victories. The Evangels also picked up a 5-1 win over the Lady Rams in the SAC Tournament at Ann Lacy Stadium on May 6, 2022.
