GREENVILLE, S.C. – The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) recognized its 2023 softball scholar-athletes on Tuesday night as the Mid-America Christian softball program boasted a program-record 19 academic standouts.
The 19 student-athletes recognized from MACU was by far and away the most of any other program in the NCCAA with Trinity Christian (Ill.) and Northwestern (Minn.) recording the second-most with 10 each.
In order to be eligible for NCCAA Scholar-Athlete honors, a student-athlete must maintain no lower than a 3.40 cumulative grade-point average, be a junior by academic standing and have completed at least one semester as well as be currently enrolled by the nominating institution.
The Evangels' softball team has been one of the most academically recognized by the NCCAA in recent years as MACU has notched the most Scholar-Athletes in three straight years. Last year, 13 earned honors in 2022 and 12 garnered recognition in 2021.
Overall, 11 of MACU's 19 recipients are first-time NCCAA Scholar-Athlete recipients while Adyson Bradley, Rachel Humburg, Cailey Parsells and Olivia Roberts will be ending their softball careers as three-time NCCAA Scholar-Athletes.
