OKLAHOMA CITY – Winners of five of its last six, the MACU softball team will look to keep its momentum rolling into the Fifth-Annual Hosea Bell Red Dirt Classic, hosted by Langston at the USA Softball Hall of Fame this weekend.

The Evangels will open the three-game slate at 10 a.m. on Friday as MACU will take on McPherson (Kan.) on the OG&E Stadium Field before battling Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 3 p.m. on the Integris Field. Mid-America Christian will wrap-up the classic on Saturday as the Evangels will face Our Lady of the Lake at 12:30 p.m. on the OG&E Stadium Field.

• Team Notes:
  • Mid-America Christian put together an outstanding series in the circle in its Sooner Athletic Conference opening series against Southwestern Assemblies of God last weekend. The Evangels bounced back from a 2-1 loss in the opener on Feb. 23 to come away with 9-0, 3-2 and 2-1 victories to take the series.
  • Overall, MACU's pitching staff allowed just two earned runs in 28 innings of work for an astounding 0.25 team ERA. The group that consisted of Allie Doncarlos, Rachel Eggleston, Avery Schneringer and Chana Wolfe combined to allow only four walks and struck out 18 batters in the series.
  • Throwing two complete games in the slate, Eggleston bounced back from a tough-luck loss to throwing a nine-inning gem in the series finale, allowing just one unearned run on nine hits with no walks and eight strikeouts.
  • Even though MACU as a team struggled from the plate, batting just .253, the Evangels got a pair of strong performances from junior infielder Kisbel Vizcaya and junior outfielder Hallie Wilson. In the four-game slate, Vizacaya slashed .545 (6-11) with a double and a home run for two RBIs and two runs while also nabbing a pair of bases. After recording just one hit through her first five games, Wilson broke out of her slump in a big way, batting .500 (5-10) with a double, a triple, four RBIs and three runs scored.
