KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the first time in program history, the MACU Softball program had a student-athlete selected as the NAIA Pitcher of the Week as senior pitcher Avery Schneringer received the esteemed accolade.
The Blanchard, Oklahoma native received the honor after putting together the best start of her four-year Evangels career. In a 2-0 victory at No. 4 Science & Arts on Saturday, Schneringer tossed her ninth career complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits with two walks to go with three strikeouts over seven innings of work in the victory.
The win allowed the Evangels to split the four-game series against the Drovers after winning the opening game of the series by a score of 3-2 on Friday. Mid-America Christian is the only the third team in the NAIA to either win or split a series against USAO with the No. 1 ranked Our Lady of the Lake and No. 2 Oklahoma City being the only other teams to accomplish the same feat.
Overall, Schneringer wrapped up her week by allowing just one earned run on five hits in 8.1 innings of work for a 0.81 ERA in the series against the Drovers.
So far in 2024, Schneringer owns a 4-2 record in the circle with a 3.00 ERA while throwing three complete games and two shutouts over 44.1 innings of work.
Mid-America Christian will be back on the road this week for another huge four-game series as the Evangels will head to Fort Worth, Texas to take on Texas Wesleyan. MACU will open the series with a Friday doubleheader slated for 11 a.m. at Sycamore Park.
