Campbell and Wilson each tallied a pair of extra base hits while scoring four and three runs respectively while Thurman notched a team-high five RBIs.
- MACU is looking to continue building toward a strong regular season finish heading into postseason play. - Team Notes:
- Langston is currently in the midst of a brutal part of their schedule as MACU will mark the third top three team in the SAC that Lions will face in the last month. Facing No. 2 Oklahoma City, Southwestern Assemblies of God and No. 6 Science & Arts over the last three weeks, LU has gone 1-11 over that stretch and were outscored 50-2 in their home series against the Drovers last weekend.
- The biggest weakness for the Lions in 2024 has been the team's pitching as Langston ranks last in the conference in team ERA at 8.89 while also posting a league-worst 2.47 WHIP and a 1.87 strikeouts per seven innings. The hitting and fielding hasn't fared much better for the Lions as LU ranks second-to-last in team batting average (.259) as well as last in on-base percentage (.306) while holding the second-worst fielding percentage (.924).
- Offensively, the Lions have been struggling to find some offensive production since losing freshman infielder Alayna Edison in late March, but Meilani Butts has proved to be the big bat for Langston as she's hammered three doubles, four triples and six homers for 19 RBIs and 19 runs to go with a .313 batting average.
- Sophomore Tandy Garrett is the only returning pitcher from last season for the Lions as freshmen Brooke Stewart and Sierra Sanchez have been the most primarily used rotational pieces for the Lions. Garrett holds the team's lowest ERA at 7.61 while Stewart has been the biggest arm with a team-high 28 strikeouts.
- Since Langston joined the Sooner Athletic Conference in 2018, the Evangels have thoroughly dominated the series with an 18-3 record in that time frame and are currently on an eight-game win streak over the Lions. Last season, MACU mauled the Lions to the tune of 39-5 in the run differential after getting a pair of 13-1, 11-2 victories at Langston on Mar. 22 and 6-1, 9-1 wins at Allen Field on Mar. 25.
