Record Eight MACU Softball Standouts Receive All-SAC Acclaim

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Sooner Athletic Conference unveiled its 2024 All-Conference Team on Friday afternoon as eight members of the MACU softball program received distinguished honors, including tying a program-record seven student-athletes selected to the two All-SAC Teams.

Overall, three Evangels earned First Team accolades as senior pitchers Rachel Eggleston and Avery Schneringer alongside junior third baseman Kisbel Vizcaya.

Junior outfielder Brooklyn Wilson was tabbed to the Second Team and on-top of also being named a Gold Glove recipient for the second-straight year while junior utility player Emylee Campbell, senior infielder Morgan Fowble and sophomore pitcher Chana Wolfe were also selected to the Second Team.

Junior outfielder Karlee Danielson rounded things out for MACU by being named an Honorable Mention selection.

Under first year head coach Jim Gasso, the Evangels put together a sensational regular season as MACU enters SAC Tournament play with a 34-13 overall record and finished with a program-best 27-9 record in in league play.

The last time MACU had seven players selected to the All-SAC Team, it came in 2015 when Kenna McCoy and Macie Crites were named First Team honorees and while Katey Gracey, Mykah Smith, Jackie Hilterbran, Natalie Bissell and Kelsie Wolf garnered a Second Team nod.

Being named to the All-SAC First Team for the third consecutive year, Eggleston once again led a deep MACU pitching staff by wrapping up the regular season with a 12-5 record and a 2.31 ERA over 109 innings of work. On the whole, the Kiowa, Oklahoma native went the distance in 10 games and pitched a pair of shutouts in her 22 appearances.

Earlier in the season, Eggleston became MACU's all-time strikeouts leader as she enters the SAC tourney with 388 career punch-outs and just last weekend against Central Christian became the sole leader in career wins in the circle with 49 over her four-year MACU career.

Another senior in the circle, Schneringer has once again put together a stellar year, entering postseason play with a 10-2 record and a 2.91 ERA. Over 22 appearances and 89.0 innings of work, the Blanchard, Oklahoma product has thrown seven complete games, pitched a pair of shutouts and has also tallied a pair of saves. The senior righty has also impressively not suffered a loss in the circle since Mar. 10, going 8-0 with two saves in 15 appearances since then.

Schneringer was also the first pitcher in program history to ever be selected as the NAIA Pitcher of the Week after tossing a complete game shutout at No. 4 Science & Arts on Mar. 23, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out three in the victory.

A newcomer to the Evangels in 2024, Vizcaya has been MACU's leading bat for nearly the entire season, wrapping up the regular season campaign with a team-best .355 batting average and a team-leading 36 runs and 23 stolen bases from the leadoff position.

In 43 games this year, the Venezuelan infielder has impressively hit four doubles, three triples and two homers for 19 RBIs as well as been impressive at the top of the order, striking out only 15 times in 152 at-bats, just 9.8 percent strikeout rate.

While posting a .918 fielding percentage at the hot corner, Vizcaya has been especially great the second half of the season, committing only three errors in her last 22 games for an astounding .949 fielding percentage during that stretch.

Another defensive and offensive dynamo for the Evangels, Wilson has been one of the most productive hitters and fielders out of the centerfield position. The Oklahoma City native closed out her regular season with a team-high 33 RBIs off a team-best 13 doubles, four triples and a pair of homers and finished second on the team in runs (34), batting average (.338) and slugging percentage (.532).

Being named the first SAC Player of the Week this season, Wilson has been incredible once again in the outfield, posting a .970 fielding percentage while committing only two errors and has also totaled an incredible five outfield assists.

In her last series against Central Christian, Wilson moved alone into fourth on MACU's career doubles list with her 34th two-bagger as she now sits just seven away from the record holder Olivia Roberts (41, 2020-23).

An All-SAC honoree for the second-straight year, Campbell has continued to serve as the Swiss Army knife of the MACU lineup in her junior campaign. In 45 games, the Blanchard, Oklahoma native has posted a .317 batting average with a pair of doubles, a team-high five triples and two homers for 21 RBIs and 31 runs scored. Campbell has been an on-base machine, drawing 16 walks and three hit-by-pitches for a .399 on-base percentage to go with 18 stolen bases.

One of the most clutch hitters in program history, Campbell has come up with some huge at-bats for MACU in 2024 as well, hitting the walk-off sacrifice fly for a 2-1 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God on Feb. 24 as well as hit the walk-off RBI single to right in an 8-7 victory over Southwestern Christian on Apr. 6.

Taking over a starting role in MACU's infield during her senior campaign, Fowble has been an instrumental bat in MACU's lineup. The Chandler, Oklahoma product ranks third on the team in both hits (41) and batting average (.325) while ripping eight doubles and two homers for the second-most RBIs (28) to go with 18 runs. Fowble has been a consistent bat in the MACU order as her average has not dipped below .310 all season.

In a 13-3 win over McPherson at the Red Dirt Classic on Mar. 1, Fowble recorded a career-high four RBIs after batting 2-for-4 and hit a three-run homer on the OG&E Stadium Field at the USA Softball Hall of Fame.

Rounding out the Second Team recipients, Wolfe has made a major impact in the circle in her first year as a starter. In 17 appearances this season, the Salina, Kansas native has posted a 10-4 record in the circle with a 2.81 ERA while tossing four complete games, a shutout and a save over 67.1 innings of work.

Wolfe's best start of the season was a huge one for MACU as the sophomore righty tossed a complete game and allowed just two runs, one earned on six hits with a walk and a career-high nine strikeouts for a complete-game 3-2 victory at No. 4 Science & Arts on Mar. 22. Wolfe also just recently tossed her first career shutout in a 3-0 win over Langston on Apr. 19, allowing only one hit and a walk while striking out seven in the victory.

Being named an Honorable Mention selection, Danielson has made an incredible impact from the dish since moving into the starting lineup midseason. The Leedey, Oklahoma standout finished the regular season as the team's leader in home runs (4) and slugging percentage (.556) to go with five doubles for 21 RBIs and 22 runs over 72 at-bats. Danielson has also been great at getting on-base for MACU as she has drawn 12 walks and a pair of hit-by-pitches for the second-best on-base percentage on the team (.411) while nabbing 11 bases.

Danielson came up with a massive hit for the Evangels in an 8-7 win at Texas Wesleyan on Mar. 29, hitting the go-ahead three-run homer to left in the top of the fifth.

Mid-America Christian earned the No. 3 seed for the SAC Tournament and will open bracket play with a 2 p.m. first pitch against No. 6 seed Texas Wesleyan today in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
