Women’s Soccer to Play Panhandle State in Penultimate Home Game

OKLAHOMA CITY – Entering the final two weeks of the season, the MACU Women's Soccer team is preparing to host Oklahoma Panhandle State for its second-to-last home game of the regular season for a 5 p.m. kickoff at the Dill Soccer Field.

SEASON REPORT
  • Record: 8-3-2 (3-1-2 SAC)
  • Last Match: Won at Central Christian – 4-0 – Oct. 18, 2025 – McPherson, Kan.
  • Stat Leaders:
  • Team Notes:
    • Mid-America Christian got back on the winning track off its bye week as the Evangels thoroughly dominated Central Christian on Saturday, outshooting the Tigers by a 23-2 margin, including a 13-0 margin in shots on-goal to run away with the 4-0 victory.
    • The result marked the first time the Evangels kept an opponent from putting a shot on-goal since defeating McPherson by a score of 9-0 at the Dill Soccer Field on Sept. 4, 2023.
    • In the win, four different Evangels found the back of the net, including Gladis Avalos, who netted her fourth game-winning goal of the season. Caitlin Hirst, Maria Scopino, and Brae Baker also got into the scoring column.
    • Caitlin Hirst led MACU's scoring efforts with a three-point effort, tallying a goal and an assist in the victory. It was the first time in her Evangels career that she recorded three points in a single match.

      • 5-3-1 W-L, 1.71 GAA, 29 Saves, .674 SV%, 55 SF, 9 GP, 9 GS, 739 MIN
  • Team Notes:
    • While Oklahoma Panhandle State was able to hang with No. 10 John Brown in the first half, only trailing 2-1 at the half after giving up a goal with 22 seconds left, the Pioneers were unable to contain the Golden Eagles in the second half as JBU scored three goals to come away with a 5-1 win.
    • OPSU has been a dramatically different team on the road than at home as the Aggies own a 4-0-1 record at Anchor D Arena, but on the road are 1-5 with the lone win coming in a 3-1 result at Southwestern (Kan.) to open the season on Aug. 26.
    • The duo of Emma Daskalov and Emma Contreras have carried the Aggies offense, combining to net nine of OPSU's 18 goals this season. On the defensive side, Panhandle has struggled, allowing the seventh-most goals per game in the conference at 2.27 while OSPU goalkeeper AlaraLynn Gunderson has been the better of OPSU's keepers, allowing just 1.71 goals while saving .674 percent of the shots she's faced.
    • Even though Mid-America Christian has been able to dominate the all-time series, the last time the two teams met in Goodwell last season, the Evangels had to overcome a late deficit. In that match, Brae Baker scored the game-tying goal with 9:20 to go before Jasie Eischen made the long-distance game-winner with 2:54 left to secure the 3-2 victory and capture the program's first Sooner Athletic Conference regular season title.
