OKLAHOMA CITY – For the first time in her MACU Women's Soccer career, senior defender Cammy Hargrove was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year as well as only the second player in program history to be named a four-time All-SAC First Team honoree while Caitlin Hirst, Brae Baker, and Liv Houlston all earned accolades as well.
A four-year starter for the Evangels, Hargrove has split time between playing centerback and fullback, Hargrove has started all 18 games and played a team-high 1483 minutes while tallying a pair of assists. The Oklahoma City native has logged the second-most minutes of any player in program history over her MACU career at 6389, needing only 163 more minutes to match the program record.
Hargrove also joins elite company in Rachel Lynn (2009-12) in being only the second player in the history of the program to be named an All-SAC First Team honoree in all four years of her tenure with the Evangels.
Joining Hargrove on the First Team was a senior forward in Hirst. A native of Birmingham, England, Hargrove was MACU's most productive offensive weapon during SAC play, notching all six of her goals and four of her five assists during the nine league games this season while also garnering back-to-back SAC Offensive Player of the Week honors to wrap-up the regular season after recording a brace in both wins against John Brown and Texas Wesleyan.
Earning her second All-SAC accolade, Baker was selected to the Second Team after scoring six goals and two assists during MACU's nine league games. The junior striker is putting together one of the best offensive seasons in program history, as her 16 overall goals is tied for the sixth-most in a single season in program history and just one away from moving into third. The El Reno, Okla. native in only two years at MACU has netted 30 goals, already ranking in the top 10 in career goals with another year of eligibility to add to that total.
Rounding out the All-SAC honorees, Houlston put together a phenomenal freshman campaign by netting five goals and dishing out seven assists with three goals and five assists coming during SAC play. A native of Birmingham, England, her seven assists is currently the ninth-most assists for a player in a single season in program history.
Mid-America Christian is now currently awaiting to see where it will be playing postseason play. The NAIA Women's Soccer Tournament Selection Show will take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday on the Urban Edge Network.
