- Team Notes:
- Facing off against one of its longest tenured rivals in Southwestern Christian, the Evangels and Eagles ended up splitting the regular season right down the middle as MACU fell in the opening game of Wednesday's doubleheader by a score of 5-0 before bouncing back with a 5-0 win of its own to wrap-up the series and force the 2-2 split.
- In the win, the incredible streak of sophomore pitcher Gia Reynosa continued, as she was able to navigate out of multiple jams against the strong hitting Eagles team and notch her third complete game shutout in the last six outings. During that incredible stretch, Reynosa has only allowed one earned run over 33.1 innings of work for an astonishing 0.21 ERA.
- One of the big reasons for the improved success for Reynosa is her command of the strike zone as the righty hurler has only allowed one walk and struck out 15 batters over that six-game stretch. Another paramount reason is the San Antonio product has greatly reduced the amount of "mistake" pitches she was making earlier in the season. After allowing 12 doubles, three triples and five homers through her first 10 outings of the season, Reynosa has only given up four doubles with no triples or homers over the last three weeks.
- After going through a minor slump from the dish this week after slashing 0-for-8 in the doubleheader against Texas Wesleyan on Monday and game on Wednesday, Serena Rodriguez broke out of it in a big way in game two as she hit 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs in MACU's 5-0 win.
- With Sooner Athletic Conference play winding down this weekend and the eight-team tournament field already being determined, the Evangels are now currently trying to maintain their course for locking up the No. 3 seed for the tourney. With six games left in the slate, MACU currently owns a two-game lead over Texas Wesleyan and a five-game lead over Southwestern Christian for the No. 3 spot. With the Rams hosting No. 5 Oklahoma City this weekend, the Evangels will have the opportunity to seal the third-seed as early as Friday.

- Team Notes:
- Even though it has been a tough season for Langston, the Lions have been playing some stronger softball since facing Nelson back on Apr. 11. After splitting a four-game series against the Lions from Apr. 11-12, LU took No. 3 Science & Arts to extra innings to open the series before dropping three-straight run rule decisions last weekend. The Lions then battled at No. 6 Oklahoma City on Tuesday and hung with the Stars for the most part, only losing a pair of 9-1, 8-3 decisions.
- The biggest challenge for the Lions this season has been their pitching as Langston ranks last in the SAC with a 9.34 team ERA while posting the second-worst team fielding percentage at .916 and are giving up 9.3 runs per contest. The hitting for the Lions has been slightly better than its pitching and defense as LU ranks seventh in slugging percentage (.392), eighth in on-base percentage (.345) and eighth in batting average (.290).
- Despite the team's offensive struggles, the Lions do feature three solid hitters in their lineup in Ashara Thibodeaux, Dayanna Monero and Ryan Cornist. All three hitters are slashing .350 or better from the plate as well as an above .500 slugging percentage and are combining for 63 of the team's 141 RBIs and scored 65 of its 165 runs. However, in the circle, the Lions have been challenged as freshman Lilly Ritter has posted three of LU's five wins and has worked by far and away the most innings at 86.1 while also owning the best ERA on the squad at 6.83.
- Ever since losing to Langston in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament back on May 6, 2021, the Evangels have downright dominated the series by winning 12 straight contests, all of which by three or more runs and seven of which have been via the eight-run rule. In their last meetings at Allen Field on Apr. 20, 2025, the Evangels dominated the Senior Day slate by coming away with a pair of dominant 10-2, 11-3 victories.
