OKLAHOMA CITY – For the first time since 2019, the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) will be holding a Central Region Tournament on Monday and Tuesday as the MACU Softball team will be going to Sterling, Kansas to compete as the No. 2 seed in the tourney.
The double elimination tournament will be hosted by Sterling College as the Evangels open the slate at noon on Monday against a very familiar foe in Southwestern Christian with a noon first pitch on Monday.

- Mid-America Christian is coming off a tough weekend in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament hosted by Oklahoma City last week. After opening the tournament with a 12-7 come-from-behind win over Southwestern Christian, the Evangels suffered a pair of very close losses to No. 7 Oklahoma City by a score of 7-5 and then 4-2 in the elimination game against Southwestern Christian.
- Despite the results, MACU has been on an impressive tear with the bats as the Evangels registered double-digit hits in all three games, including a season-high 17 in the win over the Eagles.
- One area the Evangels will be looking to get improved play in will be its pitching as MACU allowed a 4.55 team ERA during the three-game stretch while the Evangels entered the SAC Tournament with an impressive 2.86 team ERA.
- The SAC and NCCAA announced its All-Conference and All-Region awards last week. On the SAC side, the Evangels had two players earn All-SAC First Team accolades in Kisbel Vizcaya and Gia Reynosa while Chana Wolfe, Emylee Campbell, Stormy Haynes and Madisson Chavez earned Second Team acclaim. For NCCAA All-Central Region Team, Vizcaya and Reynosa earned First Team accolades while Campbell and Wolfe were tabbed to the Second Team.

- Southwestern Christian is coming off a 2-2 performance in the SAC Tournament last week as the Eagles bounced back from a 12-7 loss to MACU to open the tourney with a 9-1 win over Nelson before handing the Evangels a 4-2 loss to advance to the semifinal. However, the Eagles SAC tourney run came to an end in the semi as the Stars ran away with a 9-0 victory over SCU.
- SCU enters the NCCAA Central Region Tournament ranked in the middle of the pack in the SAC in batting average, ranking sixth with a .325 clip, but ranks in a tie for third with MACU in on-base percentage (.387) and the third-best slugging percentage (.471). Meanwhile, the Eagles rank seventh in the SAC in team ERA at 4.81 and sixth in fielding percentage at .949.
- The Eagles have been led on the offensive end by the trio of Hannah Keele, Lexi Cahwee and Trinity Norwood all season. While Keele has been the most productive at getting on-base and scoring from the top of the order for SCU, Cahwee and Norwood are big time run producers, combining for 88 RBIs while also combining to score 83 runs as well.
- SCU's primarily running with a three-pitcher rotation of Jessica Czikra, Lainey King and Lauren Schallert as of late. Czikra has been the most consistent pitcher in SCU's rotation with a 3.46 ERA.
- While MACU owns a 32-16 lead in the all-time series, the two teams have been deadlocked through six matchups during the 2025 campaign as the two squads split the regular season series 2-2 before each team took a contest from each other in the SAC Tournament last weekend. The Evangels opened the slate with a 12-7 win over SCU in the May 2 matchup before the Eagles bounced back with a 4-2 win over the Evangels in the elimination game on May 3.
