OKLAHOMA CITY – After a long layoff, the MACU softball team is ready to return to action on Tuesday as the Evangels will head to Winfield, Kansas for a midweek road doubleheader at Southwestern. The opening game is slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch at the Broadway Sports Complex.

• Team Notes:
  • Mid-America Christian split its four games at the Southern Collegiate Sports NAIA Invitational in Mesquite, Texas on Feb. 9-10. After picking up a pair of 6-2 and 7-5 wins over Oklahoma Wesleyan and York, the Evangels dropped a pair of tough decisions in an 8-2 defeat to Benedictine (Kan.) and a 6-4 loss to Friends (Kan.) in the finale.
  • One area the Evangels will be looking to improve on heading into its first true road doubleheader is its defense. Through the first four games, MACU defensively has committed 11 errors for a .911 fielding percentage.
  • MACU will also be looking to get back on-track in the pitching department as the Evangels as a team are posting a 4.41 ERA through the first four contests. However, the Evangels do possess a lot of senior leadership in Rachel Eggleston and Avery Schneringer in the position with both owning a sub-3 ERA.
  • One bright spot for MACU in its season-opening tournament was the play of junior outfielder Brooklyn Wilson. Being named the first SAC Player of the Week of the season, Wilson batted .308 with three doubles and a triple to go with seven RBIs and three runs to lead the Evangel bats.

  • Southwestern is in the midst of a busy week as the Moundbuilders will be playing their fifth and sixth games in the last three days. SWC is coming off a four-game series against Graceland (Iowa) where the Moundbuilders suffered 11-0, 17-3 and 7-3 losses while getting a 3-2 victory on Feb. 18.
  • Mid-America Christian will be looking to stay hot against Southwestern as the Evangels have won 13 of their last 15 meetings against the Moundbuilders. In last year's series at the Broadway Sports Complex on Mar. 29, 2023, the Evangels picked up a pair of dominant 22-1 and 13-0 victories. In the 13-0 win, Cailey Parsells went 2-for-2 with an inside-the-park grand slam and tallied a career-best six RBIs while Rachel Eggleston threw four shutout innings of two-hit ball. In the 22-1 win, four Evangels notched three-RBI days in Emylee Campbell, Brooklyn Wilson, Macy Stockton and Rachel Humburg while Avery Schneringer tossed three shutout frames of two-hit softball.
